Escape Room Workshop

Join FIU Online, the Digital Scholar Studio, and the Humanities Edge for two-part, virtual program – general information session and workshop – to explore the use of escape room gaming strategies in your courses. At the workshop, we will build a virtual escape room together using Google Sites.

9:30 – 11:00 am

This virtual workshop offers the opportunity to build an Escape Room together using Google Sites. Faculty will learn how to implement this discovery-learning teaching strategy to immerse students in an exciting, interactive, and captivating learning experience that promotes critical thinking, problem solving, and teamwork. You will leave the session having participated in the creation of an escape room, with your questions answered, and with a template for building your own escape room.

Important note:

The workshop is limited to 15 humanities faculty and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Faculty will receive a $250 stipend for participation in the workshop.

The application is open to all full-time faculty working in Humanities disciplines including the digital humanities, art + art history, history, English, philosophy, modern languages, classical studies, and gender and ethnic studies.

Application deadline: Tuesday, February 1, 2022
Notification: Friday, February 4, 2022

Upon notification of acceptance, participants will be asked to request a Google Workspace account through the AskIT portal in order to follow along with the workshop.
