Apply to participate in the 2025 Summer H.E.ART program at FIU July 29–July 31, 2025!
The three-day humanities-driven program offers opportunities for students who choose to major in Art, Art History, English, and History to prepare for your entry to Florida International University (FIU).
Application deadline: Wednesday, April 9, 2025
Notification date: Friday, May 16, 2025
H.E.ART benefits include:
- Meet with experienced FIU and MDC faculty and advisors dedicated to enhancing your humanities education
- Meet with FIU staff who can assist with your transition to FIU including admissions, financial aid, scholarship, etc.
- Explore FIU's Modesto Maidique Campus (SW Eighth Street) with FIU peer mentors
- Participate in program activities that explore theories, methods, and practices in your chosen major (Art, Art History, English, and History)
- Receive a monetary stipend upon completion of the program (subject to eligibility).
To apply for participation, you should answer “yes” to the following:
- Are an active MDC student with less than 15 credits until graduation
- Plan to attend FIU (or have recently been accepted)
- Intend to major in one of the following programs at FIU:
- Art (including Studio Art, Digital Arts, and Art History)
- English (Literature, Writing & Rhetoric, Creative Writing, and Linguistics)
- History (including Digital Humanities and Public History)
Students interested in majoring in Communications, Journalism, Modern Languages, Performing Arts, and Philosophy are also welcome to apply.
