Bio
Mario Lara is a Miami native with over eight years of experience in Higher Education, specializing in Academic Advising. With a passion for advocating for students, especially those from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds, Mario is dedicated to supporting students in every possible way. His journey at Florida International University (FIU) began as a Graduate Assistant at the Pride Center and included roles in Greek Life, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and The Education Effect. His work has consistently focused on youth development, family involvement, teacher professional development, and community engagement.
Mario's career path also led him to Florida Memorial University, where he served as a Middle School Coordinator with Engage Community Schools and taught as an adjunct instructor for the First Year Experience course. Beyond his professional roles, Mario is an active advisor for student organizations and a proud member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education/Recreation from Bethune-Cookman University and a Master of Higher Education Administration from FIU. Through his unwavering dedication and multifaceted experiences, Mario continues to empower students and foster inclusive educational environments.
