Spring 2022 Humanities Edge Lumen Circle Fellowship Program
The primary purpose of this fellowship is to enhance collaboration, curriculum, and pedagogy alignment between Miami Dade College and Florida International University. This program seeks to explore evidence-based teaching practices that support cross-institutional student success in the humanities. It is offered as part of The Humanities Edge: An MDC-FIU Pathway Partnership funded in part by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Fellows will receive a $1000 stipend upon successful completion of assignments related to the learning circles.
Please complete this Qualtrics form below so that we will have the information we need to administer the program and process your stipend.
The Lumen Circle Fellowship will begin officially on February 2, 2022, and end on April 5, 2022. The time commitment is anticipated to be 1-2 hours per week, working asynchronously within the Lumen Circles platform, a website designed for faculty professional development. Each week of the program will include a reflection activity.
During the nine-week fellowship program, you and your MDC colleagues will form three virtual communities focused on English, history, and art disciplines. Faculty participants will be asked to complete two reflection activities specific to curricular alignment in the middle and at the completion of the program. Participants will be asked to provide insights and observations, identify possible gaps and barriers, and suggest opportunities and action steps to enhance and support student transfer and success in the Humanities. As part of the program reflections, all identities will remain anonymous to protect the integrity of the studies. Explicit permission will be requested for any work that is attributed to a specific fellow. Progress, reflections, and assessments will be observed, compiled, and reported by a third-party evaluator.
